Young Brown Pelicans Express Themselves by Carla Brennan

We are happy to announce our fifth year of publishing Leaping Clear!

We want to thank our artists, writers, donors, and readers for your contributions and your support as we continue through 2021 exploring the interplay of art, literature, and contemplative practice.

This year we have decided to switch gears, and instead of producing a Spring issue, we will begin showcasing individual contributors from our archives each week until shortly before our Fall 2021 issue publishes in September. Our first new Showcase Features will appear on March 23. You can look forward to wonderful art, poetry, essays, photos, videos, stories, and music every week all spring and summer. You can also follow our posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Our 2021 Fall Issue

Continuing with the anniversary theme, our Fall Issue will feature works by Leaping Clear contributors from past issues. We will also be inviting some new writers and artists whose works are informed by contemplative practice. All will be joining us in celebrating our success of the past five years and help generate momentum for years to come.

Welcome Two New Editors

To help us continue with a more robust social media presence and to add further editorial expertise, we’ve recruited two new editors.

Please welcome Simon Boes and Jen Schmidt to the Leaping Clear Team!

Simon Boes.jpg

Simon will be managing our social media and helping with other editorial tasks. He served as co-editor-in-chief at The Mountain Goat while at The University of the South, opinions editor for The Sewanee Purple, and lyricist for Sewannee Hymn Sesquicentennial Stanza. For more on Simon, see the About section of our website.

Jen Schmidt.jpg

Jen will be maintaining our editorial calendar and helping with other editorial tasks. She is a practicing poet, visual artist, and Anglican who has studied in southern California, England, and the coast of Scotland. She has worked in several editorial and writing media over the years, from journalism to artist exhibitions. For more on Jen, see the About section of our website.

May you all enjoy the surging energy of spring and may you be safe and well.

With good wishes,

Leaping Clear Editors
